Jesse Garland Sailor, 87, of Jonesboro, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Egypt, Arkansas, Jesse lived in Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1951-1971 before moving to Jonesboro. He and his wife were the owner and operators of Court Square Restaurant in Jonesboro from 1971-1985. They also operated Holiday Restaurant on Gee Street. Jesse later worked as a security guard for Nestle, Post and Green Leaf.
Jesse was a Baptist and belonged to the Good Sam RV Club. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gus and Minnie Rose Sailor.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean McDonald Sailor of the home;
2 sons, Jesse Donald Sailor (Sue) of Mt. Ida and Russell Sailor of Jonesboro;
1 daughter, Linda Kaye McClain of Rancho Cucamonga, California;
1 brother, Loral Sailor of Paragould;
2 sisters: Opal Graham of Liberty, Missouri and Helen Feher of Sachse, Texas;
8 grandchildren: Eric Sailor, Amy Morgan, Dawn Moore (Chris), Dr. Jennifer Anderson (Jeff), Jimmy McClain, Jeff McClain, Jessica McClain and Ilia Hartley. And
13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Herman Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Chris Moore, Eric Sailor, Rusty Sailor, Austin Sailor and Caleb Moore.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
