Jerry Glenn Sutterfield ,82, of Jonesboro, passed at his home , right where he wanted to be, on December 26, 2025, with his daughter, Angela and a great friend Brenda at his side.
Jerry was born in 1943 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. As a young boy, his family lived in Garden Grove, California, where he discovered his love of bowling. When the family moved back to Jonesboro in 1959, he continued his love of bowling and joined many bowling leagues. This lefty bowler bowled more than one 300 game and had well over 400 trophies. He was a Jonesboro High School alum, Boys State attendant and a 1961 graduate. After high school, he attended ASU, where his Bowling instructor "let" him help with the class. He started working at the Jonesboro Sun Newspaper at age 19, a temporary job, that turned into a 43-year passion for him until he retired in 2006. While working at the Sun, he met his future wife, Greta, which was a big added plus! He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and attended several games in St. Louis with friends. He also loved cheering on his Arkansas teams, the Red Wolves and Hogs. When he was no longer able to venture out much, he really enjoyed keeping in touch with his friends on social media, watching sports on TV, listening to country music and was especially proud of the 4 million dollars he had accumulated on his iPad poker game. He had the best time playing that game! His dog Buddy and his daughter, Angela, were his constant companions during this last year, which brought him great joy. He especially loved listening to Angie laugh as they watched their favorite tv shows together. She was the greatest comfort to him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Greta Rorex Sutterfield; parents, Gerald and Margurite Sutterfield.
He is survived by Children; Tony (Stephanie) Sutterfield, Kris (Joel) Sharp, Angela Hotop, and David (Angie) Sutterfield; sister: Patti (Dan) Cooper, Brenda Knight considered another sister by him and all his family, a true angel on earth, and most definitely the definition of a bestie to him. Special aunts: Ruth Blackwood and Peggy Trusty. Nephews: Daniel and Drew Cooper. Loving cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Last but not least of his loves was his faithful companion, sports watching "bestest" boy, his dog, Buddy.
We wish to thank St. Bernard's Total Life and Angel, his caregiver, and St. Bernard’s Hospice for making his last day pain-free.
