Jerry Runsick

February 2, 1942 — January 28, 2021

Jerry S. Runsick, 78, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Unity Health Unit of White County Medical Center in Searcy.

Jerry was born in Tuckerman and grew up in Swifton where he was a 1959 graduate of Swifton High School and a member of the championship basketball team. He was a graduate of Southern Baptist College in Walnut Ridge and earned a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Jerry was an agricultural chemical sales representative for several years and lived in Keiser, Memphis, Fayetteville, TN, and Paragould before moving to Jonesboro in 1983. For several years he was a sales and service representative for Jonesboro Appliance Company and Sears of Jonesboro before his retirement.

Jerry attended First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro and was a member of the Jonesboro Master Gardeners where he was active in all their events. Jerry joined his wife Nadine in teaching and leading water aerobics classes for area health centers. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert B. and Ruby Nell Smith Runsick, wife Nadine McKinley Runsick and brother William Bryan Runsick.

Survivors include 1 daughter and son-in-law: Cara and Scott Mitchell of Gainesville, Georgia;

3 sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff and Tonya Runsick of Searcy, Alan and Dione Jessup of Benton, and Joel Jessup of Mountain Home;

1 brother and sister-in-law: Jack Michael Runsick and wife Kay of Wynne; and

12 grandchildren: Nathan Runsick, Emma Runsick, Sarah Runsick, Bryan Mitchell, Jacob Eakes, Katie Franks (Jacob), Preston White, Alexis White, Logan Jessup, Jackson Jessup, Taylor Jackson (Zach) and T.J. Capel.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021, in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Matt Bussell officiating.  Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the chapel.
