Jerry Glenn Rook

Jerry Glenn Rook passed from this life Sunday, August 25 at Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
He was born to the late Aaron L. and Juanita Rook October 27, 1943 in Turrell.
Jerry is at rest now and he is with his parents, son Jerry Jr. and siblings Elwood Lamar Rook and Debra Rook Butterfield the Angels are rejoicing with them.

Growing up he worked on his father’s business: Rook Egg Farm South of Nettleton.
Jerry was in education for over 39 years. He was a successful coach at Nettleton, Pine Bluff, Stuttgart and at Brookland. Jerry’s Pine Bluff team won two State Championships. Jerry enjoyed Gardening and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Paula Rook of Jonesboro; three sons Barry Rook of White Hall, David Rook of Rogers and Heath Minnis of Bono; and daughters , Dana Jones of Egypt and Tina Rook of Rogers, and numerous Grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings: Rickey Rook Dickey Rook and Ted Rook and Mina Rook Davis. He is a legend in this area and people still talk about the Raider teams of 60 (Ark State Runner-up) & 61 (Championship) years.
Those who witnessed the Ark State Championship game in 61 when Jerry scored 52 points in that game will never forget it.
Jerry still holds the scoring records at NHS (3,103 pts) and ASU (2,153 pts). This was when there was not a 3 point line where Rook shot a third of his shots.

He was a High School and College All-American, inducted in the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame (2009) and had his HS #33 retired in 2009.
A visitation will be from 1-3 pm Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 3 pm August 28, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Stallings officiating. Burial will be private.
