Jerry D. Nichols

Jerry D. Nichols, 76, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at St Bernards Medical Center.

Born in Baldwyn, Mississippi, Jerry moved with his family to Jonesboro area at any early age and lived most of his life here. He was a 1961 graduate of Bay High School and a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard.

Jerry was retired from Lincoln Manufacturing in Jonesboro with 33 years of service and was a life-long member of Needham Baptist Church. Jerry spent much of his spare time doing mechanic work on his automobiles and was particularly partial to his 1966 Mustang that he restored. He enjoyed meeting his Bay classmates for their monthly breakfasts through the years. He also enjoyed making a garden and working in the yard.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: R.L. and Iva Nichols; son Dennis Nichols; sister Sarah Roedel and brothers Max and Jimmy Nichols.

Survivors include son Terry Nichols and daughter Shelly Nichols, both of Jonesboro; 2 brothers and their wives: Ronnie and Linda Nichols of Jonesboro and Landa and Glenda Nichols of Trumann; 3 sisters and their husbands: Debbie and Junior Taylor of Jonesboro, Donna West McClung and Jeff McClung of Mountain View and Tonya and Joe Monroe of Bay;
7 grandchildren: Emilee Garcia, Hayley Nichols, Alli Slayton, Jared Nichols, Madison McCormack, Jake Slayton and Tyler Holcomb; and 2 great grandchildren: Noah Garcia and Layla Garcia.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday in Needham Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will precede the funeral service from 12 noon until service time.
