Jerry Wilson Melton

Jerry Wilson Melton, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, recently making his home in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

Jerry was a member of Encounter Church of God in Jonesboro. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, especially anything involving racing, his family, and time spent in his shop. He was an avid dirt track and drag racing enthusiast and a huge NASCAR fan. Jerry could often be found tinkering around in his shop or spending time with his family at the racetrack. He cherished the friendships he made throughout the racing community and leaves behind a lifetime of memories with his family, friends, and all of his racing buddies.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Cookie Melton; his parents; 13 siblings; his grandson, Brock Tyner; and his grandson-in-law, Timothy Klimetz.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, April Rasdon (Tony) of Jonesboro and Alice Taylor of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Hunter Rasdon, Jason Rasdon, Damon Davis, Savannah Perry, Courtney Moore, and Chase Tyner; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a lifetime of friends; and countless friends and racing buddies who were like family to him.

Jerry will be remembered for his love of racing, his willingness to tinker and work with his hands, and most of all, the time he spent with the people he loved. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the countless memories made together at the racetrack, in the shop, and with his family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with Bro. Marty Russell officiating.

Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
