Jerry Mathis, 84, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at his home.  He had lived in Jonesboro since 1957.  Jerry retired as the Assistant Director for the ASU Physical Plant with over 30 years of service.  He was a member of the North Main Baptist Church.  Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, four sisters and one granddaughter, Ashley Hollaway.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara Mathis, of the home; son, Doug Mathis (Mary Ann); daughters, Carol Barnhill (Roger) of Jonesboro; Gale Hollaway (Randy) of Hardy; Robin Nichols of Jonesboro; Kathy Wright (Mike) of Springdale; sister, Jeanie Rodgers of Bay; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  A special thanks goes out to his niece Linda Kay Utley for the special care, love and attention.

Funeral services will be 11:00 Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gary Brown and Phillip Rodgers officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Burial will be at Nettleton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Saturday until service time.
