Jerry W. Garrett

Jerry W. Garrett, 72, of Jonesboro passed away on October 31, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.

Jerry was born in Louisville, KY on November 15, 1943 to the late Joseph and Elva Lile Garrett. Jerry worked in advertising for many years with Lamar, Halsey, and Vineyard Outdoor Advertising. He was a member of South Caraway Baptist Church. He also served the Lord with The Gideons International dedicated to telling people about Jesus through associating together for service, sharing personal testimony, and by providing Bibles and New Testaments. His hobbies included watching his grandchildren play sports, going to the lake, and fishing with family. He was a loving soul that looked at the best in people, and he never met a stranger. The love he had for his family and friends will be missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Garrett of Jonesboro; sons, Jason (Christina) Garrett of Katy, TX, Marlin (Mandy) Tice of Jonesboro, and Aaron (Angela) Garrett of Jonesboro; daughter, Tonya (David) Long of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Cole (Carolina) Long, Connor Long, Cayden Long, Gavin Tice, Avrie Tice, Olivia Garrett, Elise Garrett, Matthew Hamrick, and Destiny Stevens; two special nephews, Cory Long and Duane Janes; and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday at 3:30pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Don Martin and Ken Brown officiating. Interment will directly follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. David Long, Cole Long, Marlin Tice, Connor Long, Cayden Long, Gavin Tice, Rick Emery, & Cory Long serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00pm until service time in the Emerson Memorial Chapel.
