Jerry Don James, 68, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, June 11, 2014, at the Memphis Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Don was a native and life-long resident of Jonesboro. He drove a U.S. Mail truck in northeast Arkansas for many years and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Don was a member of North Main Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Irene Powell; and by 3 brothers: Herbert "Butch" James, Jimmy "Eddie" James, and Tommy James.
Survivors include 1 son, Donnie Butch James of Jonesboro;
1 sister, Teresa (Danny) Taylor of Bay;
2 brothers, Ricky (Judy) James of Cherry Valley and Terry (Angela) James of Paragould; and
17 nephews and nieces, 23 great nephews and nieces and 3 great, great nephews and nieces.
Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Danny Taylor officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers include: Timmy James, Jeremy James, Rodney James, Larry Henson, Jordan Taylor, and Jake Murray. Honorary pallbearers include Michael James, Tom James and the nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Emerson Funeral Home from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
