Jerry Cathcart, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on June 14, 2026. He was born on September 13, 1943, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Elmer Orien Cathcart and Hermanene Patricia Cathcart.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ann Cathcart; his children, Michael Cathcart and wife Lana Cathcart, and Sheri Cathcart and (Tim Dawson); his grandchildren, Tyler Dawson, Nick Cathcart, and Zach Cathcart; and his brother, Robert Dale Cathcart and nephews, Bobby Cathcart Jr., Scott Harris, and John Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Orien Cathcart and Hermanene Patricia Cathcart.

Jerry lived a life defined by service, dedication, and a love of aviation. He spent his career doing what he loved as a lifelong pilot, flying both corporate jets and commercial airline jets. He also proudly served his country for two years in the United States Army and continued that service for more than 30 years in the Army National Guard. As a helicopter pilot, Jerry retired with the respected rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5.

Those who knew Jerry knew he could be serious when he needed to be, but he also had a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter and warmth to the people around him. He was a loving husband and father, a great family man, and someone who was always willing to help. Jerry encouraged his family and friends, stood by the people he loved, and would do anything needed for his family and friends.

His life was one of quiet strength, commitment, and love. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country, his steady presence, and the care he showed to those around him.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton Avenue, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service at Jonesboro Memorial Park, 3910 Harrisburg Road, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72404.

Memorial donations may be made in Jerry’s honor to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
