Jerry C. Coots

Jerry (Lightin') Coots, 75, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday at Lexington Place in Jonesboro.

Born in Cash, Jerry lived most of his life in the Cash-Jonesboro area. He was retired from Legacy Landfill where he worked 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed working on his cars and trucks.

Jerry was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Ethel McQual Coots and by his son, Brad Canan Coots.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Jones Coots of Jonesboro;
3 sisters: Barbara Riggs, Shirley Coots and Mildred Rose, all of Jonesboro;
4 brothers: Buddy Coots of Wisconsin, and Wayne Coots, Larry Coots and Wade Coots all of Jonesboro;
1 granddaughter, Skyler Gene Coots of Jonesboro; and
2 grandsons of the heart: Eben Parker and Hudson Parker.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dick Blackford officiating. Burial will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Barry Riggs, Stephen Riggs, David Jones, Roger Rose, Zachary Riggs and Khristian Uran.

Honorary pallbearers include the employees and staff of Legacy Landfill.

Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Emerson Chapel.

The family will receive friends before and after the service at the home of Wayne Coots, 2397 CR 766 which is KAIT Road near Jonesboro.
