Jerry Boyce Garland

October 30, 1939 — June 26, 2014

Jerry Boyce Garland, 74, of Jonesboro, died Thursday evening at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in the Balch community of Jackson County, Jerry lived in Chicago from 1962 until 1970 when he moved to Jonesboro. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 25 years and was a driver for Jones Truck Lines until they closed. Jerry operated A-1 Garland's Tree Service in Jonesboro for 18 years until his retirement.

Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Garland, a son, Edward Garland, his parents: John and Alma Brinsfield Garland, and 3 sisters: Laverne Howard, Jetta Bolden and Johnny Grabosky.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Lisa Stauber and husband Larry of Marion, and Jeri Carol Garland and Cherie Grammer of Conway; 1 son, Jimmy Garland of Jonesboro;

Eight grandchildren: Brandon Sheridan, Jeremy Garland, Jaimie Garland, Sara Garland, John Garland, Jacquelyn Ramos, Amanda Martin, and Sawyer Grammer; and

Ten great-grandchildren: Carter, Caroline, Cole and Caleb Sheridan, Mackenzie and Aubrey Garland, Hunter Garland, Tayton and Benjamin Ramos and Zoe Martin.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. Funeral services and burial will be private.
