Jennie Mae Justus, 96, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at her home. She was born August 26, 1927 in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late Lawrence Vance (LV) and Addie Mae (Collins) Waddell. Jennie married the love of her life Fred Stuart Justus Sr. on August 30, 1946. They were happily married 69 years and had 3 children. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. Jennie retired as a school teacher after 36 years. She taught 5 years in Alabama and 31 years in Arkansas. Jennie received her bachelor’s degree in education from Arkansas State College and received her master’s in special education from the University of Alabama. Jennie was a very precious, kind, loving, generous and giving mother, housewife and schoolteacher. She loved to cook, travel, raise a flower garden, oil paint, sing and play her ukulele.
In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred S. Justus, Sr.; 3 sisters: Violet Elizabeth Alexander, Lois Verl Keller, Elva June Milligan and 2 brothers, Carroll Waddell and Lawrence Vance Waddell Jr..
Survivors include her son, Fred Stuart Justus Jr. of Jonesboro; 2 daughters, Melissa Justus (Robert) Goodson of Helena, Justina Jen Lamb of Jonesboro; brother, Lee (Lois) Waddell of Clinton; sister, Bertha Mobley of Pensacola, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Marty Lamb, Stacy Lamb Aldridge, Andy Lamb, Blake Goodson; 8 great granddaughters and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Albert Camp officiating.
