Jeffrey Paul Watkins

Jeffrey Paul Watkins, 65, of Jonesboro passed from this life Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his home. He was born December 31, 1952 to Jeff Oliver and Winona Clyde ​​ ​ Watkins in Marianna, Arkansas. He's preceded in death by both parents. ​

Jeffrey has lived in Jonesboro since 1978 after coming from Marianna. He was a faithful member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, while also being a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class. Jeffrey is a 1981 graduate of Arkansas State University and completed ​ ​ 25 years of service for the United Parcel Service. ​

​​ He was an avid reader and ​ loved to tell a good story. Jeffrey enjoyed working ​ with his hands ​ ​ on ​ projects around the house ​ . He loved gardening, traveling, and just being outdoors ​ with ​ Sadie, his faithful canine companion. ​ Jeffrey also loved his church’s ​ mission ministr ​ ies ​​ that ​ served the community. Most of all he was very proud of his two children: Adam and Joanna.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gay Linn Watkins, of the home; son: Adam ​ Brubaker ​ Watkins of Jonesboro; daughter: Joanna Linn ​ Watkins of Denver, Colorado; three sisters: Jane Karen (Don) Davis of Camden, Arkansas, Mary Ellen (Gary) Jones of Denton, Texas, Nona ​​ ​ Diane (Curtis) Granger of Conway, Arkansas ​ ; a niece: Stephanie (Pete) Culbreath of Alexander, Arkansas and many extended family.

A visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

​ The ​​ memorial ​​ ​ service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church following the visitation with Rev. Kathleen McMurray officiating. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers will include the Upper Room Sunday School Class.
