Jean Stank, 85, of Jonesboro passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2011 at her residence.
Jean was born December 8, 1925, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to the late Edward and Helen Cleaver. After high school she went on to receive two degrees in the education field from Bloomsburg University, her B.S. in Elementary Education and an M Ed in Reading and Literacy. She was an educator for the Southern Columbia Area School District in Pennsylvania, and she lived most of her life in Shamokin, before moving to Jonesboro in 2007. She was a devoted Catholic, and was a member of the of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Pennsylvania before moving to Jonesboro, where she joined Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Jean was also a master gardener in Jonesboro, and volunteered her time at St. Bernard Medical Center.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Stank.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Thomas Stank and his wife Stephanie of Jonesboro; three daughters, Sharon Kotovsky of Alexandria, VA, Tracy McAlister-Bridges and her husband Dennis of Greenville, SC, and Carol VanDyke and her husband Larry of Herndon, VA; a brother Dr. Thomas Cleaver of Florida; six grandchildren, Thomas M. Stank II, Scott Kotovsky, Jamie and Matthew McAlister, and Mark and Marisa VanDyke.
A memorial mass in her honor will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 with Father Jack Vu officiating.
Burial will be private.
