Jean Cooper Russell

Jean Cooper Russell, 82, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, May 28th 2023 at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital in Jonesboro. She was born August 4th, 1940 in Weiner, AR to Willis and Letha Irene (Kieffer) Cooper.

Jean moved to Hardy and graduated from Hardy High School as well as attained a Masters in Education from ASU Jonesboro. Jean retired from public education after spending thirty years teaching. She taught at Williford Schools, McArthur Jr. High, and Jonesboro High School as well as Arkansas State University.

Jean was a Christian and a Baptist. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, cooking, and family get togethers. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Ralph Cooper and George Cooper.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Bryan (Tricia) Russell; granddaughter, Nikki (Eric) West; great grandchildren, Isla and Miles West; sisters, Ola Kee,  Lena Henderson, Linda (Butch) Ellison and Letha (Paul) Grimm; and her brother, Paul Cooper. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, double cousins, cousins and other close friends that she loved so much.

All friends and family are invited to a Memorial to honor Jean on Saturday, June 10th at 11 a.m. at Family Fellowship Baptist Church on Old Greensboro Road. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
