Jean Harris

Jean F. Harris, 70, of Jonesboro, died Saturday evening, April 21, 2007, at her home.

Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Mrs. Harris lived in Blytheville before moving to Jonesboro in 1977. She taught school at Brookland Elementary and worked several years as secretary/bookkeeper at Southwest Church of Christ and Valley View Church of Christ.

She was a member of Valley View Church of Christ and served several years on the Board of Directors at the Church of Christ Student Center at Arkansas State University. She was a graduate of ASU and was preceded in death by her parents: Ellis and Deene (Whitten) Reid, and by a brother-in-law: Davis Winters.

Survivors include:

Her husband: Bill Harris of the home;

1 Son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Stephanie Harris of Jonesboro;

1 Daughter and son-in-law: Debra and Brent Maynard of Temple, Texas;

1 Sister: Donna Winters of Sikeston, Missouri;

2 Brothers and sisters-in-law: Bud and Joy Reid of Jackson, Mississippi, and Bill and Connie Reid of Sikeston;

5 Grandchildren: Amanda Maynard, Jake Maynard, Katie Maynard, Levi Maynard and Joe Scott Harris.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Valley View Church of Christ with David Gibson, Jimmy Adcox, and Richard Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include: David Daniel, Allen Dehm, Allen Gossett, Greg Hogue, Bob Nichols and Phil Rampey. Honorary pallbearers include the elders and deacons at Valley View Church of Christ, Dr. Ron Blachley and Dr. Doug Maglothin.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
