Ruby Imogene "Jean" Gentry, 88, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at St. Bernards Medical Center. Born in Tulot, Arkansas, on May 3, 1936, to the late Baudie and Bethel Shempert, Jean lived a rich and fulfilling life as a dedicated homemaker.

An avid reader, Jean especially enjoyed the works of V.C. Andrews. She loved engaging in crossword puzzles, a testament to her sharp mind and love for words. Jean found immense joy in her family, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a fondness for visiting flea markets, where she delighted in discovering unique treasures. A lifelong fan of Elvis and country music, Jean's love for these genres was well-known among her family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Malcolm Riley, and her second husband of 17 years, Billy Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Pankey, B.J. Shempert, and Bobby Lee Shempert, as well as her sisters, Inez Riley, Juanita Rook, Sharon Rook, and Joy Ann Warren.

Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Sequoia Feeherty (John) of Jonesboro; her cherished grandchildren, Calandra Short (David) and Stephanie Andrews (Nick); and her adored great-grandchildren, Luke Sexton, Maddie Sexton, Aiden Andrews, and Riley Andrews.

In accordance with Jean's wishes, all services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to NEA Autism Association, 1702 Stone St, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
