Jean May Ahren

October 10, 1922 — October 13, 2020

Jean May Ahrens, 98, of Jonesboro, went peacefully to her Heavenly Father on October 13, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.  Jean was born to Alice and Clarence Stolz on October 10, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri, where she spent the first half of her life as a housewife and wonderful mother.  After the death of her beloved husband, John Harvey Ahrens in 1978, she moved to Jonesboro.

Jean was a talented seamstress and cook, enjoyed long walks every day and had a great love of Boston Terriers.  She was a very loving and involved mother and grandmother.  She attended the First Presbyterian Church for many years and was a volunteer at the hospital Information Desk in St. Bernards Auxiliary for 40 years.  She was happy to call the Memory Care Unit of St. Bernards Villa her home for the last 5 years and loved her caretakers there.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey of 38 years, two brothers Warren Stolz and Clarence Stolz, Jr. and one grandson, Jason Ahrens.

She is survived by her children: Carol (Larry) Hinck of Jonesboro; Jack (Leslie) Ahrens of Fort Myers, FL; and Robert (Dani) Ahrens of Jacksonville, NC; and five grandchildren: Cheryl (Shane) Speights of Jonesboro; Laura (Edward) Howard of Enterprise, AL; Joel (Vivian) Ahrens and Kristen Ahrens of Edmond, OK; Shelly (John) Wallace of Naperville, IL  and 11 great grandchildren.

At Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.

Memorials can be made to St. Bernards Foundation or to Shriners Hospital in St.Louis, her favorite charity.
