Jay Chalma Dollins, age 70, of Paragould, passed away on February 25, 2019, at St Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born March 19, 1948, to J.C. Dollins and Betty Ross Ratton Hyde in Paragould, Ark. After graduating in 1966 from Paragould High School, he went on to receive a B.S. in physical education from Arkansas State University.
In 1969, Jay married his beloved high school sweetheart, Karen Hendrix. Together they had two daughters, Dana and Jodi. In his professional life, Jay was a boilermaker, retiring from the Boilermakers Local 169 of Detroit, Mich. He was proud of his work and passionate about helping others.
Jay’s family meant everything to him. He is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter Dana Cox (and Jack) of Paragould, and daughter Jodi Leeker (and Tom) of Gainesville, Mo., as well as his four adored grandchildren, Shelby Cox Plunk (and Brennan) of Fouke, Ark., Anna Cox of Paragould, and Jake and Grant Leeker of Gainesville.
He also leaves behind six sisters: Bonida Poynor, Chris May, Kellie Bankos, Nonie Wiggins, Pat Burns and Fritzi Janes. A seventh sister, Lana Golden, predeceased him.
Family and friends remember Jay as being extremely funny and loved to make others laugh through his entertaining story telling. He was adventurous in nature; his hobbies included being a pilot, hunter, rescue scuba diver, motorcycle lover, and about anything that involved an element of danger.
What he loved most was spending time with his wife, girls, and grandchildren. He adored them and devoted his life to making them happy.
The family will host a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10th, at Paragould Country Club.
