Jason Matthew Williams, 41, of Jonesboro, formerly of Bay, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church and was very active in the audio/video ministry at the church. Jason was also an avid sportsman. Jason was a pioneer for an investigational drug to battle his cancer, knowing that the research he was providing mighty help others fight against the disease. He fought many battles but he won the war against cancer thru his love and appreciation for human life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Marjorie Eastup, Darrell and Opal Williams, and Jack Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Roedel Williams; sons, Matthew Wayne Williams and Nathan Douglas Williams, all of the home; parents, John and Ruth Williams, Bay; brothers, john Darrell Williams, Jonesboro; Adam Williams and Joshua Williams both of Bay.
Funeral services will be 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Elvis Brandon officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Tim Fletcher, Mike Craig, Stephen Williams, Tanner Seals, Terry Nichols, and Jim White serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Williams, John D. Williams, Aaron Seal, Rob Roedel and Roger Blankenship. Visitation will be from 5-8 Tuesday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
