Jason H. Lassiter

June 19, 1954 — October 23, 2010

Jason Lassiter, 56, of Jonesboro, went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning, October 23, 2010, at his home of natural causes.

Jason was a native and lifelong resident of Jonesboro. He retired in 2007 as a patrol sergeant with the Jonesboro Police Department with 25 years of service. He was a member of Fisher Street United Methodist Church and the Nettleton Masonic Lodge where he achieved worshipful master. Jason is a member of the Scottish Rite and a past member of Jonesboro Fraternal Order of Police where he was a Guard, a state representative, and a national representative.

Jason enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle. He was an avid golfer and a master banjo player. He was preceded in death by his father, H.V. “Buck” Lassiter, and a brother, Lonnie Joe Lassiter.

Survivors include his wife Eva Smith Lassiter of the home.
Mother: Jessie Marie Lassiter of Jonesboro.

2 brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry and Helen Lassiter and Faris and Debbie Lassiter, all of Jonesboro.

2 sisters and brother-in-law: Kayleene Lassiter Keith, and Marie and Stuart Hahn, all of Jonesboro.

Jason leaves behind Friends and Extended Family too numerous to list. He loved you all.

Active pallbearers include: Cooper Taylor, Gary Shackelford, John Wood, George Martin, Tony Zaffarano, Steve Eaton, Mark Yates and John Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Jolly and Jeremiah Sanders officiating. Burial with police officer honors will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, 5-8pm, at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
