Janis "Johnnie" Moody

August 19, 1930 — May 3, 2014

Janis "Johnnie" Gentry Moody, 82, of Bay died May 3, 2014 at St. Bernard's Medical Center. Johnnie was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi on August 19, 1931 to the late Ira and Mae Gentry. She lived most of her life in Bay and was on the Bay high school basketball team. Johnnie was All-State and was invited to play for the women's basketball team, the Redheads. She was a fan of the Duke Blue Devils and the St Louis Cardinals. Johnnie retired from GE after working there for nearly 20 years.

In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband O.W. Moody and one sister, Aldean Morrison.

Survivors include her son; Steve Moody of Jonesboro, one sister; Geneva Stotts of Mountain View, grandsons: Johnny (Melissa) Moody of Paragould, Michael (Amanda) Moody of Jonesboro, one granddaughter; Stephanie (Nate) Moody of Black Rock, great grandchildren: Jarod Moody, Sarah Moody, Jadyn Clark, Conner Clark, and Gentry Moody, great great grandchildren: Haylen Adams, Jayda Moody.

Graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Tom Isbell officiating. Emerson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
