Janis Kay Dubois

Janis Owens DuBois, 65, of Jonesboro died Sunday December 25, 2011 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

Janis was born December 8, 1946 at Caraway, Arkansas and spent all of her life in Northeast Arkansas. She was born to the late Ben and Bessie Overman. Janis was a hair dresser for over 35 years. She was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church.

Janis truly loved people and touched so many lives. She had a true passion for life and those who knew her said she never met a stranger. Janis absolutely loved spending time with her family and friends. She was very devoted in her faith in Christ and participated regularly in her bible study classes.

Survivors include her husband James DuBois, her sons Scotty Owens of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Russ Owens and wife Lisa of Jonesboro, daughters Kelly Orgeron and husband Ed of Mandeville, Louisiana, Misty Smith and husband Tim of Jonesboro and a step-son Terry DuBois of Jonesboro, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Three brothers, Ben Overman of Jonesboro, Jerry Overman of Conway, Roger Overman of Caraway, four sisters, Elouise Fires of Caraway, Bettye Baugh of Memphis, Darlene Watkins of Jonesboro, and Patsy Kell of Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by the children’s father, Bobby Owens, sisters Melease Alexander and Oberla Schmidt.

Visitation will be at Nettleton Baptist Church from 10 AM – 12 PM on Wednesday December 28. The service will follow visitation at 12 noon with Brother Don Strait and Brother Larry Owens officiating and burial will follow at Nettleton Memorial Cemetery, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
