Janie Conner, 58, of Jonesboro went to be with our Lord on March 7, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
Janie Conner was born Jane Ellen Alson in Saint Joseph Missouri on October 31, 1957 to Dr. Marion and Eloise Alson. Jane was the youngest of four children.
She lived in Saint Joseph, Missouri for most of her formative years, where she graduated from Central High School in 1975.
Janie moved to Arkansas in 1984, and has resided in Jonesboro for the last twenty-one years. She met her husband, Wayne Conner, in January 2003, and they were married in April 2005. Janie Conner has worked at Nebo Auto Center as an accountant for the last thirteen years. Janie was a very happy and active member of the church, Pilgrim Lutheran, for the last three years.
Janie loved to sew and play piano, with her personal favorite pieces to play being Chopin. She was a loving and accepting person who adored dogs, and opened her home to rescue basset hounds for over six years. She was always selfless and would often put her loved ones and family members ahead of herself. She loved to dance and sing and always looked for the very best in everyone she met. She was a dedicated and hard working person, and would often take the burden both professionally and personally on her own shoulders.
She was a generous soul, and she will be missed.
Janie is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Conner of Jonesboro; four children, Kelly Anne Smith of Memphis, TN, Janelle Maureen Smith of Jonesboro, AR, and Shannon Patrick Smith Jr of Jonesboro, AR, and Erin Kathleen Smith of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren, Adison Fardales, Cameron Michael Jilg, Melvin Randolph Bowden III; one sister, Ann Watts of Phoneix, AZ; one brother, Robert Alson of Denver, CO.
