Janet Lindley Atkinson

Janet Lindley Atkinson, 82, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, November 06, 2013 in her home. Born in Jonesboro February 14, 1931, Mrs. Atkinson was one of the fist babies delivered at St. Bernard’s Hospital.

A 1949 graduate of Jonesboro High School; Mrs. Atkinson met and later married her husband of 62 years. Mrs. Atkinson worked for the Social Security Administration and spent her retirement traveling and playing golf.

She is preceded in death by her daughter; Terri Atkinson; parents, John Lindley and Bessie Harris Lindley; sisters Blanche Murray and Helen Woodall; and her brother, Wayne Lindley.
Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her husband; Tom Atkinson of Jonesboro; son, Scott Atkinson of Nashville, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Lindley Atkinson and Brett Atkinson.

Funeral services will be private under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. There will be a public visitation from 11:00 until 12:30 on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Emerson funeral Home.
