Jane Jelks McGill, 83, died December 8, 2010, at the Arbors at Schilling Garden, Collierville, TN, after living with Alzheimer’s disease for several years. Jane was born in Jonesboro on June 9, 1927.
She was preceded by her husband, William White McGill and her parents, Chilton and Amy Jelks, all of Jonesboro.
She leaves four daughters: Amy McGill of Monterey, CA; Patricia McGill Spain of Richmond, TX; Mary Casto and husband Mike Casto of Long Beach, MS; and Laura Adkins and husband Jeff Adkins of Collierville, TN. She also leaves eight grandchildren: Damon Barna, Jessica Casto, Erin Krimian, Amy Roberson and husband Blake Roberson, Taylor McGill-Spain, and Will, Henry and Matthew Adkins; one great-grandson, Noah Roberson; a sister, Faye “Wink” Lamb of Balboa Island, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jane taught her children and grandchildren the importance of family, and the values of justice, tolerance, peace, and stewardship of the earth’s gifts and her spirit will live on in that legacy.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 11, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Father Jesse Perkins officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge.
