James Garland Wood Jr.

James Garland Wood Jr., of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 64. He was born on February 4, 1962, in Clermont, Florida, to the late James Garland Wood Sr. and Virginia Walker. James lived most of his life in Jonesboro, where he built a life surrounded by family, friends, and those he loved.

James was of the Assembly of God faith and attended Harrisburg First Assembly of God as well as Breaking Bond Ministries.

James was a very hard worker who took pride in all that he did. He had a special love for two-door hardtop Chevrolets and enjoyed watching wrestling. He cherished his friends and family and had a special place in his heart for his two beloved dogs, Shocker and Sadie. James also enjoyed spending time at the Pizza Shack, where he made memories with those around him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Garland Wood Sr. and Virginia Walker; two sisters, Diane and Crystal; one brother, Timmy; and his daughter, Brittany.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Walker-Wood of the home; his daughter, Sasha (Jordan) Bullock of Jonesboro; two sisters, Ellie Conner (Steve) of Alabama and Lavon Johnson of Alabama; five grandchildren, Abbie Bonham of Jonesboro, Allie Ford of Strawberry, Brayden Chambers of Imboden, Dylan James of Jonesboro, and Ashlynn Bennett of Jonesboro; three great-grandchildren, KJ, Mari, and Lani, all of Jonesboro; his dear nephew, Jeff (Sabra) Wood of Cherokee Village, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

James will be remembered for his unwavering love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Mr. Wood at Harrisburg First Assembly of God on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate James's life and the memories he leaves behind.
