James V. Moody

James Vernon Moody, 70, of Jonesboro, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Margaret (Knox) Moody; 3 daughters, Kim Plagenza of Oakland, California, and Casey (Steve) Trevizo and April (Ernest) Oretga all of Phoenix; 4 brothers: Dale Moody (Rosemary) of Bono, William Moody (Margaret) of Salisbury, Maryland, Randall Moody (Brenda) of Battlefield, Missouri, and Delbert Moody (Beckie) of Spokane, Washington; 3 sisters: Belva Prater of Jonesboro, Betty Louy of St. Charles, Missouri and Vickie Lykins (Joe) of Lakeland, Tennessee; 1 sister-in-law: Nona Poole of Cabot; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and close friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruby Moody, 4 brothers: Cleburne, Garrison, Ronnie, and Ricky Moody, and one sister Connie Henson.

James was an Air Force Veteran who served our country for 23 years. Then upon retiring as a decorated MSGT from the military he moved to Jonesboro, AR. Shortly after he began working at Prestolite Wire in Paragould from which he also retired. During this time he married his wife, Margaret Knox, of 27 years. They attended and were active members of Jonesboro Baptist Church where he maintained the grounds.
Mr. Moody had a passion for bowling, golf, and racing. For years, he participated in bowling tournaments along with leagues which he and his wife enjoyed. He loved many rounds of golf with family and friends. For ten years, he applied his knowledge of mechanics to contribute to a dirt track racing team. If not either on the golf course, in the bowling alley, or at the race track, he relished watching his grandchildren and great children play and grow up around him.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Randall Moody and Stacy Prater officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Steve Trevizo, Brandon Nix, Seth Plagenza, Ryan Plagenza, Ernest Ortega, Sr., Ernest Ortega, Jr., Justifer Moore, Justin Plagenza, Lucas Nix and Rhiley Boyd. Honorary pallbearers include Jeff Bedwell, Shawn Gilliam and Sam Moody.
