James Winford Turner, 85, of Jonesboro, formerly of Illinois, departed this life on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at his home. He was born June 28, 1940 in Powhatan, Arkansas. Affectionately known as “Corn Dog” to his friends at work, James was loved by many.
He was the last surviving of five siblings and was truly liked by everyone.
James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Turner of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tracie Turner; his great-grandson, Jacen Redinger; and his great-granddaughter, Willow Turner, along with her father, Steven Turner, son of James’s late son, Richard. He is also survived by Kelly Redinger; mother of granddaughter, Angel Redinger, who believes her grandfather’s character has always been the firm foundation of the woman she has become, along with her husband, Nathanuel Ringler.
He retired from Owens Illinois Glass Company in California and later worked with Arkansas Glass Company.
James served as president of the Pistols N Petticoats Square Dancing Club. He was a kind man, full of wisdom and humor, with just the right touch of sarcasm. Tech-savvy even in his later years, he loved games of all kinds and had a gift for filling a room with laughter.
His love for his wife was deeper than words could ever express. Above all, he dedicated his life to protecting and providing for his family in every way possible.
