James Thompson, 65, of Jonesboro formerly of Blytheville passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born November 20, 1957 in Turrell to the late Boyd and Willine Thompson. James worked for Nucor Steel for over 20 years before retiring. He also served several years as a fireman in Blytheville. James enjoyed fishing and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. James loved his grandchildren dearly and never missed a sports game or event.
Survivors include his sons, Josh (Tonya) Thompson of Jonesboro, Todd (Annie) Thompson of Jonesboro; former wife who he remained close to, Brenda Thompson of Jonesboro; 4 brothers: Floyd (Brenda) Thompson of Cherokee Village, Larry Thompson of Conway, Stanley Thompson of Jonesboro, Glen (Robin) Thompson of Gosnell; 4 sisters: Brenda Kay (John) Herrington of Cherokee Village, Linda Gail Meadows of Bella Vista, Cookie (Johnny) Duncan of Searcy, Diane McBride of Blytheville and 5 special grandchildren: Ella Kate Thompson, Baron Thompson, Caroline Thompson, Nora Thompson and Rowan Thompson all of Jonesboro.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Terry Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
