James Noal Smith

April 2, 1932 — August 10, 2022

James Noal Smith (also known as Jack or Jim) of Jonesboro, formerly of Troy, Missouri joined his parents, siblings and our Lord, Jesus Christ, in eternal peace on August 10, 2022. James was 90 years old and spent his last week at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

James served our country in the United States Navy as a Gunner’s Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class aboard the USS Rochester. He served during the Korean War. With an honorable discharge in 1956, military honors include: China Service Medal Extend, United Nations Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Medal.

After the military, James joined McDonnell Douglas until he retired in 1992. James was active with several Elk’s Lodges over the years. He was also a member of First Christian Church in Troy, Missouri.

In addition to Jame’s parents, Oscar and Lilly Smith, he is preceded in death by his siblings; Magadeline Henson, Velva Parrish, Oscar Smith Jr, George Smith, Donald Smith, Sarah Wilson, Peggy Murdy, Vida Keeling, and Robert Smith.

James is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends.
