James Randall "Randy" Shannon, 62, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born on May 30, 1962, to the late James "Jim" D. Shannon and Judy Waddell in Jonesboro, Randy grew up with a zest for life and a heart full of love.
Randy attended Westside High School in Jonesboro, where he was known for his friendly nature and love for football. He pursued a career in trades, becoming a skilled welder and truck driver, professions that showcased his dedication and hard work. In his youth, he found joy in leading the congregation in song at his grandfather's New Hope Baptist Church, an activity that combined his love for music and community.
Randy's passions extended beyond his work. He had a deep affection for horses and enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dog, Kingsley. Classic country music was the soundtrack of his life, and he relished making people laugh with his jokes. Known for his warm-heartedness, Randy often reached out to friends and family, bringing joy to their lives. He had a particular fondness for McDonald's Birthday Cakes, a simple pleasure that brought him immense happiness.
Randy is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Beth Shannon, who stood by his side through all of life's challenges and joys. Together, they built a loving family, including their children: Stephanie "Brea" Lenox (Stephen) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Cassie Huneycutt (Jessie) of Greenville, Texas; and Greg Reunard (Brittany) of Caddo Mills, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Ethan Lenox, Ashlyn and MaCayla Bush, and Kolten Reunard.
Randy's family extends to his siblings, Debbie Johnston (Brian) of St. Augustine, Florida, and Tony Shannon (Melissa) of Jonesboro. He also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, including Jimmy Johnston, Regina McCoy, and Kasha Bulice.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Keith Livesay. Burial will be private, honoring Randy's wishes for a peaceful and intimate farewell.
Randy Shannon's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift those he leaves behind.
