James Oliver Pruitt, 89, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born on March 13, 1929 in Bradshaw, West Virginia to the late Walter and Tilda Pruitt. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sisters, Lou Liegon and Patricia Surratt; and brother, Herschel Pruitt.
Jim worked 37 years for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti, Michigan. After retiring, he and Mary moved to Foley, Alabama and had 10 wonderful years there before deciding to come to Jonesboro in 2001 where their children and grandchildren lived. Jim and Mary were married for 63 years and Jim always felt blessed having all the years given to him in retirement and for being able to go to the activities of his grandchildren. He loved to golf, work in the yard and take care of his flowers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Woody Pruitt; daughter, Sheila Kidd (Bill); son, Kenneth Pruitt (Kathleen); grandchildren, Shannon Hamrick (Marty), Scott Skinner (Maria), Justin Kidd (Casey), Mitchell Pruitt and Katie Pruitt; great grandchildren, Ashton Hamrick, Eli Hamrick, Morgan Skinner and William Oliver Kidd. He is also survived by one sister, Geneva Salyer, and one brother, Glen Pruitt (Glenna).
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Kathleen McMurray officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove cemetery with the active pallbearers being Scott Skinner, Justin Kidd, Bill Kidd, Marty Hamrick, and Mitchell Pruitt.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00- 11:00 prior to the service at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1910 Disciple Drive, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
