James Ray Pounders, Jr

James Ray Pounders, Jr of Jonesboro, passed from this life January 29, 2022 at NEA Baptist Hospital.  James was born June 6, 1943 in Brinkley, Arkansas to James and Margaret Fisher Pounders,Sr.   He was an insurance salesman and was of the Pentecostal belief.  James spread the Gospel and loved his family.  He enjoyed his friends and drinking coffee. He took care of the girls and enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting and he loved to run track.  James is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Veda in 2018.

Survivors include 3 sons, James Ray Pounder III of Sarasota, Florida, Anthony Watson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Michael Watson of Brookland; 2 daughters, Ginger (Brad) Prince of West Memphis and Debbie Byrd (Ron) of Jonesboro; 1 sister, Audrey Loewer of Brinkley; grandchildren, Jenna Harris, Victoria Prince, Whitney Freeman, Kodie Hill, Cord Young, Tiffany Byrd, Crystal Turner, Jeff Byrd, Shawn Watson, Chris Watson and Eric Watson; 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 9-10 AM at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Service will begin at 10 AM with Melvin Davis officiating.  Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Hill, Cord Young, Anthony Watson, Shawn Watson, Matt Turner and Landon Chapman.
