Mr. James D. Mooneyham, 87, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed peacefully on Saturday, May 28 surrounded by his family. He was born in Black Oak, Arkansas to Wesley and Bertha Mooneyham. “Jim” was a graduate of Harding College in 1950. He was a teacher and also worked at Singer Manufacturing of Trumann, Penworthy Paper in Memphis, TN, and The Thermos Company in Batesville, MS. Upon retirement, he returned to Jonesboro in 1990 and was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Chaffin Mooneyham, and his brother, Leonard Mooneyham. Jim is survived by 2 sons, Van Mooneyham of Jonesboro; Jonathan Mooneyham and wife Ellen of Germantown, TN; 2 daughters, Teresa McCown and husband Layton of Lewisville, TX, and Dana Gibson and husband Kent of Jonesboro; 9 grandchildren, Bryan Mooneyham, Wesley McCown (and wife, Amy), Bonnie McCown, Seneca Mooneyham, Kena Gibson, Dia Watson (and husband, Jordan), Jillian Mooneyham, Analeigh Mooneyham and James Hall Mooneyham; 5 great grandchildren, Layton McCown, Fieldyn Mooneyham, Trevor McCown, Audrey McCown, and Alton Watson; and 1 brother-in-law, Jack Chaffin and wife Edith of Heber Springs, AR.
There will be a graveside service for family on Tuesday, May 31 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Jimmy Adcox officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. A visitation celebration will be held at Southwest Church of Christ, on Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00.
