James A. McGinnis, 81, of Jonesboro passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
James was born in Swifton on February 20, 1934 to the late Bennie and Stella Henley McGinnis. He was a graduate from Egypt High School and he served our country with the US Army Air Corp. While serving our country with the US Army Air Corp, he served as an air plane mechanic. After his service to the military he worked as a self-employed contractor until his first retirement, and later drove school buses for the Jonesboro and Nettleton School Districts. His hobbies included playing golf, playing with his dog, and he was always busy around the home, whether it be mowing the lawn or working on whatever needed fixing. He was a loving father and brother, and his love he had for his family will be missed but not forgotten.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, David McGinnis; a brother, Taylor McGinnis; two sisters: Ella Futrell and Brenda Brown.
He is survived by two sons: Benny McGinnis and James (Michelle) McGinnis both of Jonesboro; one daughter, Debbie McGinnis-Zimmerman of Ft. Collins, CO; brothers; Robert McGinnis, R.L. McGinnis, Carl (Debra) McGinnis, and Wayne (Brenda) McGinnis all of Jonesboro; sisters: Florence (Bill) McLaughlin of Brookland, and Fay (Kenneth) Shaw of Jonesboro; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Graveside memorial service will be at 10am Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Old Enterprise Cemetery with Bro. Joe Kaiser officiating. Military Honors will be render and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Visitation will Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.
