James McAnear, 83, of Germantown, Tennesse formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed from his earthly home to his Heavenly home Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Methodist University Hospital. He was born April 12, 1933 in Jonesboro to the late Earl and Ida McAnear. James was a graduate of Brookland High School, Class of 1951.
He served in the Army in Japan as a MP during the Korean War. James retired after 31 ½ years of employment at American Airlines while living in Memphis. In 1971 James was born again and baptized at Oakhaven Baptist Church. He moved back to Jonesboro in 1988 and moved his membership to First Baptist Church. In 2015 James returned to Memphis to be closer to family.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ann McAnear; 2 daughters, Coletta (James) Morsey, Lisa (Jerry) Autry; 4 grandchildren: Lauren (Jeffrey) Holmquist, T.J. Morsey, Chelsea and Chase Autry and great granddaughter, Jubilee Holmquist.
Funeral Service will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bruce Venable officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.
