James M. Pierce, 81, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Craighead County Nursing Center where he resided.
Born in Shugtown, James lived most of his life in the Dixie-Jonesboro area. He was a long-time farmer and worked several years for MDR Cartage Trucking Company.
James was a member of Jonesboro Masonic Lodge and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed mowing and yard work and was preceded in death by his parents: Lute and Olga Edwards Pierce; wife Virginia Pierce; sister Patsy Hays; and son-in-law, Robert Campbell.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Denise Campbell of Brookland and Deb Troutman of Jonesboro;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Dallas and Lisa Pierce of Jonesboro;
2 brothers: Ira Pierce of Jonesboro and Jerry Pierce of Azle, Texas;
1 sister, Linda Thomas of Paragould;
7 grandchildren: Travis Troutman, Justin Troutman, Bobi Jo Troutman, Jeff Troutman, John Campbell, Sarah Simpson and Taylor Campbell; and
3 great grandchildren: Ryleigh Troutman, Noah Campbell and Nick Campbell.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Pine Log Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Watson
officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
