James Leon Rodgers

December 4, 1939 — July 18, 2016

James Leon Rodgers, 76, of Trumann, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Heber Springs, Leon lived most of his life in the Trumann area. He worked several years at Roach Manufacturing in Trumann and also worked as a carpenter. Leon was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and was recently presented the military service honorarium statute by the Craighead County Veterans Association.

Leon was a member of New Life Church of Jonesboro and enjoyed fishing and outdoor projects. He was preceded in death by his parents: Leonard and Lola Ramer Rodgers, a brother, Charles "Tootie" Rodgers, and a son-in-law, Gary Bushong.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Barnes Rodgers of the home;
4 daughters and sons-in-law: Wendy Hundley (Ron) of Bay, Mary Watts and Dusty Wright both of Trumann, and Rhonda Carpenter (Clay) of Brookland;
5 sisters: Nelda Shinn of Flordia, Jackie Genes and Jody Wade both of Elkhart, Indiana, Joyce "Docie" Stewart of Bay, and Debbie Meeks of Trumann;
12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will gather to receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Church of God of Prophesy in Trumann.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Church of God of Prophesy in Trumann with Rev. Melvin Davis and Rev. Nick Meeks officiating. Burial will be private.
