James H. Kennedy, 88, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, October 10, 2015, at his home. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1969, moving here from Campbell, Missouri. James was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. During WWII he served his country as a cryptographer in the US Air Force. He was an active member in the Fellowship Sunday School Class at First Baptist. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Laura Kennedy; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Aletrus Kennedy, of the home; daughters, Jane Overall of Jonesboro; Beth Hale (Thomas) of Russellville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jill Elizabeth Bosche; Jonathan Hale; Jordan Hale; Jamison Hale; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Thomas Hale and Ryan Poremski officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10 on Wednesday.
