James "Jim" H. Williams

January 9, 1928 — April 13, 2013

James “Jim” H. Williams, 85, of Bono went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at NEA Baptist Hospital.

He was born on January 9, 1928, in Jonesboro to the late Fred and Bertha Williams. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, encourager and mentor to many. He lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area. Jim worked as the Service Manager for Aycock Pontiac until his retirement. After retirement he started a new adventure Williams and Associates a home repair business known as “Mr. Fix-It”. He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church and loved the 8:30am Sunday School Class.

He was a World War II Veteran and a member of the Northeast Arkansas Camping Club, serving as Chaplain for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Williams of the home; daughter, Teresa (Michael) Watkins of Bono; two grandchildren, Seth Watkins of Jonesboro and Sarah (Justin) Johnson of Searcy; one great-grandchild James Curtis Johnson of Searcy; one brother, George Richard Williams (Marlene) of Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred L. Williams.

Visitation will Sunday evening from 6-8pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial will follow at Herman Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Brett Burris, Brandon Chester, Chris Chester, Jim Fisher, Scott Troutt, Tyler Weaver, and Marcus Williams will serve as active pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers will be “Jim Cole Sunday Class”, members of the Northeast Arkansas Travelers, Dr. Roger Hill, and Dr. Stephen Woodruff, Dr. Scott Dorroh, Dr. Owen Criner.
