James “Jim” Spencer, 61, a lifelong resident of Bay died Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Jonesboro on February 8, 1965, to Guy and Jane Spencer. He was a member of the Bay Church of Christ. Jim retired from Hytrol after over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He always grew enough food to share with his family and friends. He not only was an excellent archer but traveled throughout the midsouth working and making bows for his customers. He coached baseball and was a scout leader for many years. He was called Paw Paw by his grands who loved spending time with them. He enjoyed golf, even though he wasn't very good, but he enjoyed the time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Becky spencer.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Molly Spencer, of the home; son, Robbie Spencer and wife Amanda of Jonesboro; brother, Jeremy Spencer of Bay; sisters, Sharon Nance of Jonesboro; Karen Warren and husband Rick “Buck” of Bay; Brenda Boyd and husband Dean of Brookland; Janice Ann McDaniel and husband, Gaylon of Hergett; Andrea Spencer of Bay; two grandchildren, Lilyann Grace Spencer and Hunter Guy Spencer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mitch Sparks and Mark Brewer officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Loyd, Brad Boyd, Tyler McDaniel, Justin Warren, Ryan Bailey, Roy Lyles, Bob Pope, Kevin Wooten, his HYTROL family and DNW crew. Visitation will be from 5:00 until the service time. Burial will be private.
