James "Jim" Johnson, 72 of Jonesboro died Monday, Nov. 11, 2024. He was a Paragould native but called Jonesboro home for many years. He was born in Paragould on February 23, 1952, to Cecil and Freda Johnson.
He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a talker and enjoyed so many fun times with best friends. He was loved by so many and brought a smile to anyone he met. Previously married to Dale Lee Britt of Paragould and they have a daughter, Amanda. He has always been the most amazing father and Hero to his family. He was an amazing chef and could fix or build almost anything. His green thumb always produced the best flowers and vegetables in the neighborhood. He was always willing to share with friends and family. An honest, selfless, giving, spectacular man will be sadly missed and always remembered! In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings.
Survivors include his daughter Amanda Jane Johnson of Jonesboro; daughter in-law Angel Smothers; three grandchildren, Jayden, Madison, and Amiah; brother, Ben Johnson of Eastwood, Missouri; sisters, Helen Morgan of Eastwood; Mary Ellen Cox of Arnold, Missouri; Venus “Sissy” Allen of Paragould; Best friends, Mike Shutt, Ricky Lee Phelps, Jim Collins, and David Poloski.
