James "Jamie" Bruce

James “Jamie” Bruce, 74, of Brookland, died Monday, April 10, 2017 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He had lived in the Jonesboro area most of his life. Jamie enjoyed living in the country, caring for his animals and walking in the woods. He was educated in the Jonesboro public schools and graduated from JHS in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Betty Gilbert Bruce.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Bruce of Brookland; son, Dennis Bruce; granddaughter, Ashlynn Bruce both of Jonesboro; sisters, Lana Bruce Henson of Walnut Ridge; Debra Simpson of Jackson, Tennessee; Betsy House of Middleton, Tennessee; special cousin, Tommy Bruce of Rossville, Tennessee; and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home. All other services will be private. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
