James H. Branscum, 78, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born in Timbo, Arkansas and had lived in Jonesboro for fifty-one years, moving here from Mountain View. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and had served as a deacon for a number of years at Calvary Baptist and Grace Baptist while attending services there. He retired from General Electric in 1989 and enjoyed hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Cledia Branscum, of the home; son Mike Branscum and his wife Nancy; one daughter, Marsha Hill; one brother, Gomer Branscum, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Archie Mason and Brother Mike Martin officiating and burial to follow at Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Matt Hill, Hunter Smith, Trent Branscum, Drew Branscum, Jeff Rainbolt, and Barry Pankey. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Revel Porter and Leah McCrary. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the Emerson Chapel.
