James Leon Goodon, age 57, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, at his home while surrounded by family. He was born on February 23, 1964, in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Caney Leon and Sharon Kay Goodon.
He was a 1982 graduate of Jonesboro High School, and he lived his entire life as a resident of Jonesboro. James married the love of his life, Wendy Howard, on September 30, 1983. James and his family owned the Goodon Monument Company, formerly in Jonesboro. He retired as an employee from Nettleton School District. As a sharp pool player (who many may know as “Hawkeye”) and an avid outdoorsman, James enjoyed playing pool, hunting, and fishing, but it is easily said that his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. James will be remembered as a man with a loving heart, an inviting smile, and an uncanny ability to make anyone laugh.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 37 years, Wendy; children Jamie (Bobby Joe) Goodon Watson and Joshua (Olivia) James Goodon; one grandson, Parker James Watson; a brother, Terry Goodon; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his.
Family, friends, and others who wish to pay their respects, can do so at the family home in Jonesboro. Services to be determined at a later date.
