James Alfred Diamond, III, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away October 14, 2020, at St. Bernard's Medical Center. He was born January 26, 1940, in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Lucille and James A. Diamond, II. He graduated university from LSU in chemical engineering then worked and retired from Dow Chemical, working for Dow in Baton Rouge, Russellville, Arkansas, and Freeport-Lake Jackson, Texas. He retired and moved to Jonesboro in 1998.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marna Mondart Diamond; sons Kevin (Laura) of Bono, Corey (Tina) of Jonesboro, and daughter Casey Hale (Grayson) of Raleigh, NC.
grandchildren Emily and Ashley Diamond, Morgan and Peyton Diamond, and Sullivan, Shaffer and Avie Hale. He is also survived by sisters Dianne (Bill) Carter and Susan Core, and by brother Johnny, all of Baton Rouge, LA.
James proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He was an avid fisherman and his favorite pastime was taking his grandchildren and fishing buddy, Ed Vaughn, to South Florida and the Louisiana Gulf Coast to fish. James also enjoyed spending time with a special group of friends called the "Dirty Dozen" who met every Friday evening to eat out and then go to the Elks.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon Sunday morning, October 18, 2020, in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services and burial will be private. Per the guidelines of the Arkansas Health Department regarding indoor gatherings and Covid-19, all persons attending the visitation will be required to wear facemasks. Social distancing will be encouraged and hand sanitizer will be available.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
