James Scott Cottingham, 55, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away on March 8, 2025. Scott was born on March 8, 1970 in Little Rock, Arkansas to James and Diane Cottingham. Scott was a 1988 Jonesboro High School graduate. He earned a BS in Advertising/Marketing from Arkansas State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
After college, Scott began his career in distribution systems design at Best Diversified in Jonesboro. At the culmination of his career in his most recent position, he was senior strategic account executive for Systems in Motion based in Elgin, Illinois.
Along with a successful career, Scott especially enjoyed playing golf and traveling. Beginning in 2014, he was a marshal for the Byron Nelson PGA tournament, and since 2019 a volunteer marshal for the Volunteers of America Golf Classic. He was also the yearly event planner for the annual Lambda Chi Founder’s Day Golf Tournament. Throughout his extensive travels Scott visited each of the forty-eight continental United States and thirty different countries worldwide. He was also an active member of the Lamborghini Club of Dallas.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, James Cottingham, of Prescott, Arkansas.
He is survived by his mother, Diane Cottingham, of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Cottingham, of Jonesboro; aunt, Sally Cottingham Graves, of Little Rock; nephew, James “Joc” Cottingham, of Jonesboro; and two great-nephews, Aiden Cottingham and Nolan Cottingham.
On Sunday, June 1, at Sage Meadows Clubhouse, 4406 Clubhouse Dr., friends and family are invited to stop by between 1:30-3:30 to celebrate Scott’s life.
