James C. (J.C.) Peppers, 71, of rural Jonesboro died Saturday, September 22, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Barton, Arkansas, Mr. Peppers lived in Memphis before moving to Jonesboro in 1971. He was a retired elevator mechanic and was a life member of International Union of Elevator Constructors. He served in the elevator industry from 1963-1991.
J.C. was a Christian and attended New Life Christian Church in Bono, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents: James Henry and Rossie Mae Evans Peppers; by 3 sisters: Orela Thompson, Lonie Peppers and Brenda Nichols; and by 3 brothers: Willie Peppers, Arnie Peppers and Curtiss Peppers.

Lela and Terry Smith, and
Donna Peppers, all of Jonesboro; and

Steve Peppers and Judy Vaughn of Memphis, and
Dale Peppers of Austin, Texas;
2 Sisters: Maedreau Staggs of Rosemark, Tennessee, and
Glenda Boese of Walla Walla, Washington;
2 Brothers: R.V. Peppers and
Junior Peppers, both of Memphis;
14 Grandchildren: Catherine Willis, Candace Weeks, Jared Simpkins, Bryan Peppers, Lasha Simpkins, Cody Willoughby, Tasha Allen, Drace Boon, Conner Boon,
Caleb Penland, Landon Finnegan, Tiffanie Mills, Amy Jones and Jonathan Gramling;
15 Great Grandchildren: Kaley Russell, Lexi Willis, Kaitlyn Simpkins, Chase Weeks, Ethan Willis, Clayton Peppers, Lauren Weeks, Cade Simpkins, Kyra Reece, Jazzmyne Mills, Hannah Bartsch, Kyler Bartsch, Noah Bartsch, Carter Gramling, and Katie Jones.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Melvan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Gibson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include: Jared Simpkins, Bryan Peppers, Cody Willoughby, Wayne Gramling, Terry Smith and Mark Willis.
Honorary pallbearers include: Dr. Danny Grubbs, Bill French, Brian French, Perry Isbell, George Dulin, Jim Vinson, Larry Kious, Danny Haney and Shawn Cook.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
